In 2017, we expanded our activities into a new domain: battery safety. This decision was driven by the energy transition, the needs of our customers and a commitment to safety and quality in everything we do. As a company that has always been committed to delivering solutions, we felt a responsibility to use our expertise to address a rapidly growing challenge: “facilitating a safe energy transition” by addressing the dangers of use of lithium-ion batteries in everyday life.
New challenges
The rise of lithium-ion batteries brought new challenges in the field of fire safety. We saw an opportunity to use our engineering skills and understanding of materials to develop innovative solutions specifically designed to prevent or effectively combat and control lithium-ion battery fires.
Redesign KMA Group
After thorough research into this emerging market, it became increasingly clear that demand would only increase. The transition to sustainable energy is inevitable and must be achieved in a safe manner. With the aim of intensifying our efforts and better focusing on the specific needs of this sector, we have decided to create a separation within our company. Under the umbrella of KMA Group, Lion Fire Safety and KMA Textiles will form their own specialist divisions. This move allows us to continue KMA Group’s business in custom textiles, while at the same time strengthening our commitment to battery safety under a new entity.
