Requests from defense are always challenging. Several airbases in the Netherlands have so-called braking installations. These movable installations ensure that, if an aircraft cannot brake in time, during landings or a rejected takeoff, it can still come to a safe stop.
The problem was the deceleration devices were a major attraction for local wildlife. Bird nests, foxes and mice that caused damage caused problems. In addition, operating the device in bad weather conditions was no fun.
Together with the Ministry of Defence, a shelter with frame was developed that protects the installation and can withstand extreme weather conditions and provides a safe working environment. Because of its mobility, the shelter is easy to assemble and disassemble and can thus be easily transported to other locations. The shelter is now standardized and has a NATO stock number. This makes the product available to all NATO members.
